本句中could have shown和wouldn't have known是虚拟语气。虚拟条件句的主句中用“would /could / might / should + have done”结构，其中could表示本能够做到某事而没有做到; might表示本来也许会发生的事而没有发生; should表示本应该做到某事而没有做到; would表示本来想要做却没有去做。

例: I could have finished the task if I had had more time.如果当时我能有多一点时间，我就能完成这项任务。If it had been fine, we would have gone to the park.如果天气好的话，我们就去公园了。
If you had not interfered, I should have finished my work by now.不是你打扰的话，现在我早已完成我的工作了。
If you had tried a little harder,you might have succeeded.当初你如果再努力一下，说不定你会成功的。
